Project Overview

Thousands of snowboarders in the United States are forced to donate their gear or throw it away when they are no longer going to use it, unfortunately snowboarders don’t have access to a proper used gear marketplace like those we see for clothes, shoes, or other items. There are a handful of used sports gear stores out, but none of them offer enough snow gear and if they do they still do not offer their customers access to purchasing items online or through an app. Also the big used sports shops love to take advantage of their customers and give them little to no money for the gear they are trying to sell. This causes the gear being sold at those place to be very beat up and low quality because of how little money they are offering for the items. This really caught my attention and made me want to act on the issue. By creating an app that allows snowboarders to resell, trade, and buy used and new gear. The app would allow users to open up their own marketplace for their old gear or start up shop for selling thrifted snow gear. Not only will the users be able to sell through the app they can also trade for other gear available. Unlike the big names stores, shred swap will allow the users to make back all of the money instead of taking a cut of the sale. I believe it’s about time for snow athletes to have their own marketplace dedicated to snow gear and that this app will solve the issue of snow athletes not having a proper place to sell, buy, or trade used snow gear.
